Health Wins
Health Wins is one of my sophomore projects that focused on practicing visual design skills. In this project, I also honed my logo and web design abilities.
Logo Design
This is my initial brainstorm featuring approximately 100 logo concepts designed to suit the brand. While these low-fidelity sketches look promising on paper, they don’t yet reflect the quality of high-fidelity designs.
These are the first three iterations of my brand logos, accompanied by a mood board. As you can see, they have a somewhat childish appearance and mainly consist of simple font variations.
Yes... They sucks...
After creating the initial three logo versions, I began asking myself:
How can I excel at logo design?
After consulting with my professor and practicing on my own, I realized that the key is to focus on the brand’s values. Health Wins, for instance, provides health care services and information to promote healthy lifestyle choices. With this in mind, I decided to infuse my designs with more love while preserving the distinctive "W" shape. Armed with these insights, I started iterating further...
Web Design
This marks my first foray into website design. It has been an exciting opportunity to learn and apply fundamental principles such as layout, color, and typography. Engaging with digital design has not only expanded my creative skillset but also deepened my understanding of user experience and how effective design can enhance a brand's identity.
App Design
This is the first version of my prototype. This one is hard to use because I did not control the size and space well.
However, it still let me learn a lot about how to design a app much better.
Therefore, I optimized my app design and made it more and more accessible.
For these designs, I try to make all elements much larger and make them more and more obvious. And I also redesigned icons for this app to make them all easy to understand.
Takeaways
Health Wins was a visual design project from my core interaction design course, where I practiced brand identity, logo development, and interface design. I started with over 100 low-fidelity logo sketches and gradually learned that strong visual design isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about clearly expressing a brand’s values. With guidance from my professor and ongoing iteration, I refined my logos to better represent themes of health and care. This project also marked my first experience in web and app design. Although my early prototypes had layout and usability issues, each iteration helped me improve visual hierarchy, accessibility, and user experience. Through this process, I learned how to combine design principles with empathy and clarity to create visuals that communicate effectively.
